So please, leave them at home!…
Good Afternoon Parents! As Ms. Nickel said yesterday in her Parent E-mail, your scholars are starting their End of Year MAP testing in the next few days. We will be talking both the reading test and the math test this time around. We want to make sure that we are getting an accurate read of just how much your student learned this year! Why is this important to you? There are several things that you can do to help your scholar out and making sure they are getting an accurate score. Spring Break starts tomorrow, April 3rd! We will see your scholar on Monday, April 10th!
Good Evening Parents, When we return from Spring Break we are starting with End of Year testing right away! 5th grade is always first, so let's kick it off with a bang! The students will be testing every other day, taking two ELA assessments, two Math assessments and one Social Studies assessment. Again, you can do your part by making sure your students are here on time, they are getting a good night sleep and that they are eating a good breakfast before they come to school. Please also remember that we serve breakfast here from 7:20-7:40, so if you would like your scholar to eat breakfast here, please make sure that you are getting them here on time. As always, thank you for your attention to this matter!

Good Afternoon Parents, Today in class we started a new chapter and I wanted to make sure that you had the tools to help out your student! We have started adding and subtracting fractions! The biggest thing to remember here is that in order add or subtract the fractions, the denominator (bottom number) must be the same, and then you only add or subtract the numerator (top number) while keeping the denominator the same. Please find additional help here! https://www.mathsisfun.com/fractions_addition.html As always, if you have any more questions please feel free to ask, or you can find more help from Khan Academy Videos.
**Updated** The students are now allowed to wear a Spirit Wear Sweatshirt over their polo in order to keep them warm throughout the day. Please Note- There are two options for these sweatshirts, but only the CREW NECK sweatshirt will be allowed, the hoodie may not be work in class. Order forms for these sweatshirts will be coming home today and are due on January 27th. The Taylor Exemplar Academy Sweatshirt on the order form is the only update being made, no other sweatshirts will be allowed during school hours. The students may not wear their sport sweatshirts through class.
Good Afternoon Parents, As I look around the room I am starting to notice some students slipping out of uniform. The weather is starting to get a little bit colder and I want to make sure that the students are dressing appropriately for the weather. When it is cold out the students can wear long sleeve white polos. There are also a few options of sweaters that the students can wear to keep themselves warm. Any sweater that the student wears must be a solid color that is white, navy blue, gray, cream, or black. These must also be of sweater material. They may not be sweatshirt or fleece. Students will not be permitted to wear their jackets in the classroom. As you know, our classrooms get cold so please…
The holidays are upon us and coming up, we have two weeks off to spend with our families! Before we get there though we are going to have a winter celebration in our classroom, the hald day Dec. 23rd. This isn't going to be a big thing, so if you are able to bring something in, great, if not, that's ok too! We will have plenty. There isn't a signup, for this event, just feel free to bring in something to share with the entire class. Remember we have 27 students in our class. Remember Dec 23rd is the last day before break and is a half day and we will see you back here on January 9th.
